Of course this begins the deep dive into the back story of each character and the viewer quickly learns that these people are truly the product of their environment. The marijuana scene represents a turning point where the characters go from being "self centered" to caring for each other's situations and feelings. They have very different personalities and very different "social groups." Yet early on we see them choose each other over the "enemy" that is principal Vernon. The characters in the movie have rarely given each other the time of day. At the end of the day the film is much more a representation of the human condition than it is "another high school film." It is just the human condition as experienced at a different stage in life. I appreciate the pacing, the camera work and the acting is great. The Breakfast Club is a beauty of a film.
